is a small group of enthusiastic photographers that aims to promote creative photography in Leicester and the surrounding region.

The Group meets about eight times annually and through the exchange of ideas and constructive criticism and debate encourages an inventive approach to using photography to produce exciting imagery.

Group members come from a range of backgrounds and experience and present a wide spectrum of outlooks and ideas. The aims of the Group are to share viewpoints as well as providing a critical framework for the development of individuals’ work. The emphasis is less upon technology than upon the creative potential of photography and the expressive and aesthetic merits of the work.

The focus is upon the wider implications of photography and members regularly make presentations within the Group on a range of photographic topics and issues.

The Group aims to support and encourage the idea of photography as an art form in the community. It achieves this though exhibitions that are either thematic involving all members or smaller shows by individuals or groups of members. Occasional practical workshops are arranged by the Group and some of these are open to the public.

Membership of the Group is limited to about twelve to maintain its character and standards and from time to time vacancies emerge. All members are encouraged to contribute to the management and running of the Group.

We aim to provide a rich contribution to the visual arts of Leicester, Leicestershire and the region and to help to establish the concept of photography as a meaningful art form.
